Oklahoma receives its newest commitment from 3-Star athlete, Ashton Sanders, from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, California.
Sanders, currently weighing 278 at 6 feet 1 inches tall, helps the Sooners continue to add some much needed depth along the defensive line. A key area of concern as the smaller recruiting classes of the past seemed to have finally caught up with them.
Upon the first-look at Ashton’s tape, you can immediately see that he is a high energy player who plays with good lean, uses is size well, but also knows how to “get skinny” against the steady dose of double teams he sees.
One of my favorite things about this specific prospect is the ownership of his own nutrition habits and health. That type of buy-in does not always exist in your heavier athletes, therefore, to see this young man garner the reward for his efforts in maintaining a healthy playing weight makes me that much more excited about what he can develop into as he gets into a college-level strength & conditioning program.
