The Sooners earned their first Big 12 win since January 14th with a 14-point victory over Kansas State. The Sooners came out hot, jumping to a 9-2 lead before Kansas State battled back on their own 9-0 run. It was back and forth all first half but the Sooners and Wildcats were tied 36-36 at the end of the half. The Sooners played very well in the second half outscoring the Wildcats 43-29. Offensively Oklahoma played well and pushed the tempo more which definitely helped.
Grant Sherfield filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Sherfield was 7-15 from the field and 3-7 from downtown. Tanner Groves in my opinion played his best game in conference play so far. Groves totaled 16 points and 6 rebounds. Groves was extremely efficient going 5-7 from the field and 2-3 from three-point range. Tanner Groves is the Sooners X-factor in my opinion. When he is able to hit the 3 and score down low it helps everyone on offense. The other member of the Sooners big 3 Jalen Hill, posted 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Hill was 4-9 from the field and 2-4 from downtown on the night.
Milos Uzan had 13 points, 2 assists, and a rebound. Uzan was 5-8 from the field and was 3-5 from behind the three-point line. Bijan Cortes had 8 points, 7 of which occurred in the second half. Otega Oweh had 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. This was an impressive performance from the Sooners getting their first win in what seems like forever. The Sooners are now 3-10 in conference play. All 3 of the Sooners conference wins have occurred while they are wearing their Anthracite uniforms, they are 4-0 wearing the alternates. The Sooners are tied with Texas Tech for last in the Big 12. Oklahoma gets back to .500 in total with this win now at 13-13.
The Sooners will next take on #6 Texas in Austin on Saturday, February 18th at 1:00 pm
