Hicks is no stranger to Norman. The five star defensive tackle from Paetow High in Katy, TX has made numerous trips to OU, including the infamous Party at the Palace in July. Rumors have hinted that weekend sealed the deal for the elite prospect, but Oklahoma isn’t the only program to receive multiple visits from Hicks. Long thought to be the leader prior to the summer, Texas A&M has made a late resurgence, attempting to make up for lost ground ever since that July visit to Norman.
Hicks has made back to back trips to College Station in the last month, which may worry many Sooner fans. However, sources feel that the Sooners maintain a lead, however slim it may be, going into his decision.
Brent Venables’ reclamation project needs a player like Hicks. An elite interior defender, Hicks is extremely athletic for his size and excels at rushing the passer from inside. With the talent to make an impact early in his career, Hicks could help Coach Venables infuse the defense with the elite talent necessary to compete in the SEC and for national titles.
