Nolensville, TN Prospect, Taylor Wein, Commits to Sooners

Nolensville, TN standout, Taylor Wein, commits to the Sooners

"Some guys are blessed with not overthinking things or becoming robotic in what they do. Wein feels a bit like that."

Following a monstrous recruiting weekend for the Sooners that was highlighted by a victory over Oklahoma State, Oklahoma has begun to see their efforts culminate in the form of multiple commitments along the defensive line.
Nolensville, Tenneessee prospect, Taylor Wein, is the most recent player to commit to wearing the crimson and cream next fall.  Upon losing the commitment of another talented prospect, Oklahoma quickly pivoted and was able to make Taylor feel like Norman was the place for him.
Wein offers the Sooners a rare blend of height and length that makes for an elite edge defender.  As with many prospects who arrive to Oklahoma with leaner frames, he will need to spend time adding some mass to his body and bolstering his strength in order to compete play-to-play.  He has a unique fluidity and maturity to his game that is not always seen in three-star prospects and understands how to use his feet to create angles and setup counter moves throughout the game.
One of our contibutors at Sooners360 had this to say about Taylor, “Some guys are blessed in not overthinking things or being robotic in what they do.  Wein feels a bit like that.”
In some of the film we have assessed, we see an athlete who knows how to “play football,”  He seems to have a strong grasp on pace and playing how he needs to play in certain situations.  At times he can play a bit high, losing leverage, as many young players do when they are stronger and quicker than nearly everyone they face, but his footwork and physicality stand out above all else.
