Iowa State Scouting Report
This week’s scouting report analyzing the 2-2 Iowa State Cyclones, including write-up, season stats, PFF grades, and more.
The Sooners won what was a must-win game tonight in the Jumpman invitational against Florida. The Gators came out playing well and got out to an early 11-point lead in the first half. Sooners were struggling to get anything going in the first half until they made a run in the final minutes of the half. In the second half, the Sooners played much better and really took control of the game late. Sooners seemed to be very dialed in defensively in the second half.
Grant Sherfield led the way for the Sooners with 22 points, Sherfield hit 4-6 threes tonight. Sherfield is shooting 46.7% from the field and 55.4% from 3 which is 2nd best in division 1. In his past 5 games, Grant Sherfield has totaled 21,24,23,17, and 22 points. Last year the Sooners were really missing a bucket getter and now it seems like Grant Sherfield is someone who you can count on to get you 20+ on most nights. In what was not his best game defensively, Tanner Groves had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Tanner Groves couldn’t really get the three-point shot going tonight as he shot 1-5 from behind the arc. Jalen Hill totaled 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Milos Uzan had an impressive performance tallying 6 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds. Both Jacob Groves and Bijan Cortes ended up with 5 points. Otega Oweh gave very solid minutes off the bench as well. Sooners needed that win very badly as they are now 8-3 heading into the big 12 gauntlet. Sooners will next take on 7th-ranked Texas on New Years’ Eve in Norman.
