The Sooners suffer another embarrassing loss to Oklahoma State

After coming off of a fantastic win against Alabama, the Sooners got destroyed by Oklahoma State losing by 10 points. Oklahoma State got off to a hot start led by senior Kalib Boone. The Sooners could not stop Boone as he totaled 18 points. It wasn’t just Boone who was living above the rim as the Sooners had no answer for Moussa Cisse, he totaled 18 points as well. Oklahoma State controlled the game from start to finish and the Sooners had no answer. The Cowboys are simply just a better team. The Sooners had a packed house at the Lloyd Noble Center but Oklahoma State never let the crowd get into the game. This was one of those games where the score just didn’t indicate how bad this game was.

Last time out, Grant Sherfield, Jalen Hill, and Tanner Groves combined for 70 points. Today those three combined for 26. Sherfield totaled 14 points on 4-12 shooting from the field and 3-10 from downtown. Jalen Hill was 0-6 from the field and his 5 points all came from the free-throw line. Tanner Groves totaled 7 points and 5 rebounds. Milos Uzan had 11 points and 4 rebounds on 4-10 shooting from the field. Jacob Groves recorded 0 points and 2 turnovers, he shot 0-2 from the field. Jacob did not score against Alabama and has recorded just 5 points in his last 4 games. Otega Oweh had 9 points and 3 rebounds off the bench. Bijan Cortes, CJ Noland, and Sam Godwin all totaled 5 points off of the bench.

I believe the Sooners will need to play Otega Oweh some more minutes and yes there will be those freshman mistakes but I think you have to live with them. Porter Moser also hinted at possibly seeing Benny Schröder get some more minutes. The Sooners simply can not get out to as slow of a start as they got out to today. Maybe a starting lineup change would fix that. We will see if Moser elects to change it up, but something certainly has to change soon if the Sooners would like to make a run. The Sooners will next travel to Morgantown on Saturday, February 4th to take on a West Virginia team who recently upset Auburn. After that, the Sooners will get Baylor, Kansas, and Kansas State.
