Jones is a product of Seagoville High School where he cut his teeth in the coaching world after his collegiate playing career. After stints at Seagoville, Dallas Lincoln, and Dallas Skyline, Jones got the head job at South Oak Cliff from 2012-2014, where he modernized their offense and increased their scoring output year over year.

Returning to his alma mater in 2015, Jones had a one year stint as Director of Player Development before getting promoted to an on-field role as Wide Receivers Coach by then head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Following Kingsbury’s departure from Lubbock, Jones made his way to Lawrence where he spent 3 seasons as Wide Receivers coach, and added a Passing Game Coordinator title in his last 2 seasons.

Almost immediately after Joey McGuire was announced as head coach at Texas Tech, Jones was on his way back to Lubbock for another stint coaching WRs and directing the passing attack for the Red Raiders.

Popular in DFW for his high school coaching pedigree, Jones helps solidify an offensive connection to the Metroplex for Venables to pair with Jay Valai on the trail. Jones has shown the ability to recruit, signing multiple 4*s while in Lubbock, and develop wide receivers at the collegiate level.

Jones has coached one 1st Team All-American receiver, one 1st Team All-Big 12 receiver, two 2nd Team All-Big 12 receivers, three NFL draft picks, three NFL UDFAs, and a Biletnikoff finalist.

Jones will be joined in Norman by his wife and two kids.
