The 5’11”, 175 pound defensive back from Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Arizona projects as a cornerback at the next level, but has the abilities and frame to potentially play anywhere in the defensive backfield.
A relative sleeper for the 2024 class in the last few months, Newcombe visited Norman this week and couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
The talented rising senior’s athleticism is on full display as a multi-position and multi-sport star for Casteel. Newcombe plays defense, offense, and special teams on the gridiron and also stars for the basketball team. He meets a few things that continue to be hallmarks for secondary players recruited by this football staff: multisport athlete, physical hands, great burst, and physical at point of attack. He’s just a great all-around football player.
Newcombe comes from great football bloodlines. His father Bobby played QB at Nebraska in the 90s and his brother Isaiah currently plays defensive back at UCLA.
Full breakdowns from the 360 staff to come.
