Earlier today, Oklahoma and coach Brandon Hall sent out another PWO offer to a Bixby Spartan, this time to Cale Fugate. Fugate is a 5′ 10″, 180 lb ATH who would be another great PWO pickup for this staff. During his time at Bixby, Fugate won 3 state championships and was a captain for the Spartans. Fugate shined for the Spartans this season, their first in 6A-1, playing on both sides of the ball. On the season, Fugate had 36 receptions for 690 yards and 12 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. On the defensive side of the ball, Fugate was phenomenal as he had 66 total tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 of which were taken all the way to the house, 7 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles.
Fugate’s remarkable season earned him 6A-1 District 1 Defensive Player of the Year. Fugate’s performance this year in the toughest division of Oklahoma High School football is exactly why the Sooners need him. He’s an absolute baller for the Spartans and will be a huge get for Oklahoma if he decides to commit to the Sooners as he has been extremely under-recruited. It is absolutely wild to me that more schools are not rushing to offer Fugate. He currently holds an offer from the United States Air Force Academy. He was also offered today by Northwestern State University.
Fugate’s best game of the season was against Moore. Fugate had 4 interceptions in the game, and 2 were returned for touchdowns. Not only was Fugate impressive on the defensive side of the ball, but he was also impressive offensively as he had 2 receiving touchdowns as well. What really impresses me about Cale Fugate is his ability to cover the field. Check out this play in the 6A-1 semi-finals against Jenks. BixbySpartanFootball on Twitter
I said in my article about Jakeb Snyder committing to Oklahoma that we also need to get Fugate. Finally, the day before Early Signing Day, the Sooners extend an offer to him.
