But wait, there’s more

360 Recruiting Pod

The CHO23N class is arguably the best class in Sooners’ history, at least in the modern recruiting era. However, the class of 23 got even better yesterday as they added Oklahoma’s own, Taylor Heim. Heim, the 6′ 5″ 190 lb star from Bethany, Oklahoma is the latest Oklahoma native to join the Sooners this year. Heim just recently soared on the scene, as Venables and Co. offered him last Friday. Just 7 days later, Heim committed to the Sooners. Heim could easily be described as a Swiss army knife, as he plays many positions extremely well.

On the offensive side of the ball, Heim tallied 1,860 total yards of offense, including 25 touchdowns. While on the defensive side of the ball, Heim made 65 tackles, 47 of which were solo, and he hauled in 8 interceptions for the Bronchos. Heim’s impressive play led him to be named the 4A-2 player of the year.

It will be very interesting to see where Heim ends up playing once he suits up for the Crimson and Cream as he is as versatile as it gets and an overall true athlete. Heim played many positions for the Bethany Bronchos this season, ranging from quarterback to wide receiver to safety or to linebacker and even returning kicks. It is believed that Heim will play linebacker for the Sooners, however that could change. One thing is for certain with Heim, he will make something special happen when the ball is in his hands. Heim is also incredibly fast, running a 4.47 40-yard dash. He also is a 3x track state champion at Bethany.

Venables clearly likes what he has seen in Taylor Heim as Oklahoma is the first, and only power 5 school to present him with an offer. Venables liked what he saw so much that he made the trip to Kiefer, Oklahoma to watch Heim play basketball last Friday night, only hours after Heim announced that he received an offer from Oklahoma. The addition of Taylor Heim, a 3 star, is a great addition to an already loaded class.

Heim is not the only Oklahoma native to announce his commitment to the Sooners this week. Oklahoma also picked up two PWOs this week, both of which I am really excited about, Cale Fugate, WR/DB from Bixby and Reed DeQuasie, QB from Carl Albert. Both Fugate and DeQuasie won state championships this past season with their respective teams.
