Arkansas Opener 

Good 2^nd Meet for the University of Oklahoma Track and Field team as they head to Fayetteville, AR. 

Teams Attending

Alcorn State, Allen Community College (located in Iola, KS), Butler Community College (located in El Dorado, KS), Coffeyville Community College (located in Coffeyville, KS), Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Arkansas, Arkansas- Pine Bluff, Arkansas at Little Rock, Central Arkansas, and Tulsa are all the college level teams competing. There will be 2 unattached pro level athletes from Asics and Adidas there as well. 

No rankings as of yet, they will be released on January 23rd. Oklahoma has a really good opportunity to show they are deserving of a rank here very early into the Indoor season having two squads who usually put out competitive teams (Arkansas and Oklahoma State) and another that has great distance athletes as well (Tulsa).

What to expect from the Sooners?

I’m sure we’ll see the big names for OU in this meet to open their seasons.
I expect to see Olivia Lueking start her Big 12 Indoor Pole Vault Title defense, and for Vernon Turner to start his NCAA Indoor High Title defense this meet!

I’ll get in contact with one of the coaches soon for how they feel about the up-coming season and thoughts on this meet coming up when I am next able to do so, but the season is about to get rolling and I’m excited to see how Coach Langford builds from his USTFCCCA Midwest Region Men’s Coach of the Year for the 2022 Outdoor Season.

As always, I’ll do my best to provide updates for the Track and Field team as I can get them!
